ESA's response to infected debate in Poland 04 Mar 2010
To whoever it may concern,

I am writing this letter on behalf of the entire European Skateboarding Association consisting of about 20 european skateboard communities including Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Poland.

We have just been reached by the terrible news about the killing of a Polish police officer and wish to send our deepest condolences to all his family, friends and colleagues.

We have also been informed about an advertisement made by a polish company in which they portray a kid with a skateboard and a police officer in a made up, ruthless and outrageuos scene that has made skateboarders of Europe feel disgusted. Skateboarders are widely known as very creative and positive minded individuals with no borders due to age, gender, race or social background and are the least violent persons you can find. We do not identify ourselves with the image they present. Nor do we support such a ruthless message in order to gain publicity in a media driven society. We sincerely hope that this terrible incident will be viewed for what it is and the fact that its been made by one person alone who has no affiliation whatsoever with real skateboarders.

Boniek Falicki is president of the Polish Skateboard Association and will be available for any further comments on this matter on behalf of ESA.

Sincerely yours,

Thomas Raymond
President
